Standalone maps bug in 1.56 fixed
Following the release of versions 1.56 of ATS and ETS 2 by SCS, a major bug has been identified: when creating a new profile, it was no longer possible to select the map module corresponding to a standalone map. The bug has been fixed in latest release. You have to download update in Steam.
Map Combo Study 09.25.2025
We switched to ETS2 and ATS 1.56 but no map combos available yet. I’ve strted to prepare setups for both games but busy times on new work don’t give me enough time to provide new map combos fast. Obviously not all maps have been updated to new game version but I believe on upcoming weekends I can show you at least classic combinations for both games. Until that and if you are still on 1.55 you can enjoy massive combos for previous version of he game below.
If you just started with mods and map combination please see beginner’s guide. If you ask obvious questions explained in that guide most probably you will be send to watch it again.
As always before you start please always check if the guide you see latest and actual (check dates and videos availability). Please also follow rules and requirements – correct load order, DLCs compatibility and avoid extra mods that did not mentioned in the guide. Every single mod (not only map) can break the game and you will have a problems.

SCS broke standalone maps in 1.56
Following the release of versions 1.56 of ATS and ETS 2 by SCS, a major bug has been identified: when creating a new profile, it is no longer possible to select the map module corresponding to a standalone map.
This makes it completely impossible to start a new game on certain standalone maps.
Affected only new profile creation, so if someone have already been created profile on standalone module it will work so it can be only replaced old version of mod with the new one in the mod manager.
We still do not know if it is just bug or the feature has been removed from the game and all standalone maps (count of which not very big) are become inacceptable for new players. The issue is already reported top SCS and there are topics on SCS Software forum.
100% discovered study 09.18.2025
My golden rule is Every Road Must Be Traveled, Map Have To Be Discovered. So since 2017 I do it almost on every game update including all expansions and reworks. This obsession has driven me through countless game updates, expansions, and complete map reworks across both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2. Some map updates take a lot of time but some is pretty small and can be discovered in couple days. When you switch to another profile and don’t want to start map discovery from the scratch it is possible to transfer opened road to another profile. So I do it sometimes with newer profiles for both games (ETS2 and ATS) and also periodically share my progress in Youtube guides
The new update 1.56 for both games has been released recently and we have blank spots in vanilla maps with DLCs.
Current Discovery Status:
Euro Truck Simulator 2: 99.97% complete
American Truck Simulator: 99.99% complete
These percentages are based on the previous 1.55 version with all available map expansions
While I may update my guides later but if you follow my Youtube and blog you can achieve 100% completion on version 1.56 quickly, before the next wave of road reworks or DLC releases arrive

Hidden Roads Study – September, 17 2025
I’m trying to share found hidden secret roads in both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 periodically. While in Europe we don’t have new marked roads since the Greece release (2024) in US we go to state after state and in latest Iowa have plenty of nice secrets. I believe in ETS2 with Nordic Horizon which will be released later this year SCS will show us new hidden paths and easter eggs and upcoming new state in ATS is Louisiana (19th state in game).

Map Combo Study 09.04.2025
The cycle of ETS2 and ATS 1.55 is going to the end and we already have open betas for 1.56 for both games. It means less time for map combos for current version. We do not expect significant map changes in new version of the game so I hope most map mods will receive mostly compatibility updates.
Regarding 1.55 – I’m planning to combine final setup for ATS this week and refresh 1.55 Mega.

ATS 1.56 Open Beta
Today SCS released 1.56 Open Beta branch for American Truck Simulator to try and test out. SCS teams are currently adapting to a new update cycle. Because future console releases will require to lock in content earlier, this adjustment helps better coordinate timing across every platform.

All 235 Hidden Roads in ATS 1.55 (with Iowa) Secret Roads, Towns and Easter eggs
The guide contains 235+ hidden roads in 18 states (including Iowa DLC) on American Truck Simulator. It is actual for September 2025, on ATS 1.55.
Some roads are periodically disappear during map reworks and some new are being added in new game versions. Mostly I added marked roads but also some easter eggs are available.
And we are waiting the new states soon – Louisiana, Illinois and South Dakota.
I tried to avoid spoilers, mark only locations and removed hidden roads footages but if you prefer to to discover all hidden roads and secrets yourself better to skip the video.
Hidden and secret roads doesn’t affect percentage of map discovery.
