A quick status update on where the Map Combo Study stands.
ETS2 1.61: the mega combo is taking longer than planned
I’m building a big mega map combo for ETS2 1.61, and it has taken more time than I expected. A lot of new maps were released and many existing ones got updates, so the setup kept moving under my feet. Trucksim is a hobby project and my time is limited, so I’m deliberately not publishing interim versions. I’d rather put the effort into one major, properly tested setup than hand out a string of half-finished ones.
The goal is to finish the new ETS2 combo this weekend. I can’t promise it, but that’s the target.
ATS: the big combo is done
The good news is on the American side. The larger ATS map combo is finished, and it should stay current for the entire 1.61 cycle. It includes most of the free maps that are available and can be combined right now.
I had planned to add paid mods as well, but that needs its own additional setup, and again time is the limit. For now the ATS combo covers free maps only.
What else is on the list
Alongside the combos, there are a few things I want to finish:
- Events that still need to be wrapped up
- More varied videos built around my own routes (see the North Dakota Routes)
- 100% discovery guides
- Hidden roads guides

Map Combo Study 09.29.2026
I’ve started my 1.61 combo journey from Europe and still working for American one since 2 new DLC takes all my gaming time. The map mods expansion for ETS2 to bigger numbers also write around the corner and I hope next week I will finalize my first mega setup. So today is a one new and one old combos below – ATS for version 1.60 and fresh ETS2.

American Truck Simulator: 1.61 Open Beta
After a couple months of experimental beta for 1.61 SCS Software releases open beta starting from ATS and following with ETS2. Cycle of previous 1.60 version was quite short but longer than we expected in June. We can’t call new version fundamental and revolutionary but couple features will change life for some players. As always you can read about all changes of the official blog. To try beta go to Steam client → LIBRARY → right-click on American Truck Simulator → Properties → Betas tab → Beta Participation drop-down menu → public_beta. No password is required. Sometimes you will have to restart your Steam client to see the correct branch name there.

Version 1.60 for ETS2 and ATS is running longer than I expected since news about 1.61 version started to reveal quite early. But 1.60 is still actual and we can enjoy big map mods configurations. I’ve finished with map combos for current version and probably will not rollout any setups on it. Below you can see latest guides for both games with actual mod versions. For Europe we also have two versions – free and premium.

Version 1.60 for ETS2 and ATS is still actual and we have some time to enjoy big map mods configurations until that. While I’m testing now gigantic map combo for ETS2 (I hope to finish it on upcoming weekend but not sure) below you can see latest guides for both games with actual mod versions. ATS combo is final but there is lots of additions in Europe. I’m not rushing out a combo setup, I will release only those that I personally enjoy and would actually use myself.

TruckersMP Releases Official Coach Bus – You Can Drive Passengers in Multiplayer Now
While we’re all still waiting on SCS Software to confirm anything solid about an official Coaches DLC, TruckersMP just went ahead and gave ETS2 multiplayer its own passenger transport feature. On July 10, 2026, TruckersMP officially released the Heavy Vehicles Turkey Coach Bus, built in partnership with Heavy Vehicles Turkey — and this time it’s a fully integrated, no-mods-required system.
What’s Actually New Here
This isn’t the first time buses have shown up on TruckersMP servers. Some of you may remember DBus World, the third-party tool that let players run bus routes in multiplayer years ago. That project has since been discontinued. This release replaces it entirely with something built and maintained by TruckersMP itself.
The core additions:
- A dedicated coach bus model – high-quality exterior and a detailed interior, purpose-built for long-distance passenger runs.
- An official Bus Job Dispatcher – you create and accept passenger routes directly through TruckersMP’s own system, no external tool needed.
- Animated passengers – NPCs actually wait at bus stations and stops, walk over to your bus, and board one by one as your service starts.
- A performance/reward system – your payout and stats (punctuality, service quality) depend on how well you run the route.
- Automatic delivery – the bus downloads through the TruckersMP Launcher like any other update. No manual mod installs, no compatibility headaches.
How to Start Your First Route
TruckersMP kept the onboarding simple:
- Open the Player Panel (Tab).
- Select the bus icon.
- Choose a route from the TruckersMP Bus Job Dispatcher.
- Drive to the depot, pick up your passengers, and run the service.
Why This Matters More Than It Looks
TruckersMP had already teased this back in their “TruckersMP Introduces Coach Buses” post, where they were upfront that SCS is expected to launch a similar feature as an actual DLC eventually. Their stated position: they’re not trying to copy SCS’s future functionality, they just want to bring the multiplayer angle that only they can deliver — and importantly, none of this will require the eventual official DLC to use.
That’s the real story here. For years, passenger transport in ETS2 multiplayer meant installing DBus World and hoping it stayed compatible with whatever patch you were on. Now it’s a first-party feature — vehicle, dispatcher, passengers, routes, and rewards all built directly into TruckersMP, with zero setup friction.
If you’re burned out on freight jobs and want a change of pace while we all wait for SCS to say literally anything concrete about Coaches DLC, this is a genuinely solid stopgap. It won’t replace an eventual official DLC integration with the base game’s economy and career mode, but for multiplayer it’s already more polished than what we had before.

Hidden Roads Study – July, 6 2026
Both ATS and ETS2 1.60 are here and all secret roads are found in both games (I hope I haven’t missed any). Final guides for Europe with 114 roads and 281 in America are available on my channel and next stop I guess is South Dakota this Summer-Fall.
If I find any new roads or you suggest one I will not update it instantly since I skip mid-tier guide videos because of low views on YouTube. The same issue affects 100% discovery guides and map combo content. I know there’s interest from my audience, but without YouTube helping push this type of content, it quickly gets buried.
You can always check the complete list of cities with hidden paths here: https://trucksim.top/y9t6. It probably won’t reveal the exact secret road locations, but it can help you figure out if you missed any areas.

ETS2 & ATS: 1.61 Experimental Beta
Even though the 1.60 update for both ETS2 and ATS was released just last week, SCS is already working on features for future updates and since developers want to gather as much feedback from the community, they started an experimental beta way in advance of the actual update release, with focus on two upcoming features – the Multi-Function Display and In-Game Menu. To join the beta you should activate it in Steam. Please see details in SCS Software blog.
Hidden Roads Study – June, 20 2026
Both ATS and ETS2 1.60 are here and all secret roads are found in both games (I hope I haven’t missed any). Final guide for Europe with 114 roads is available on my channel but for ATS it would be bigger guide since the total count of hidden roads now about 281 and you can grab separately all roads in December 2025 guide + Route 66 paths + Illinois DLC. So I need to combine all of them and it will take time. I hope to finish it in June, early July but no rush here because other hot content expected first. You don’t like to wait for Map Combos and fast game version change stress us to update mods again.
As always one of the reason I skip mid-tier guide videos comes down to how YouTube ranks and promotes content. Older videos usually appear first, while guide-style videos below them tend to have very poor discoverability and low view counts. I don’t really want to spend dozens of hours making a guide that ends up with 1000 views. (December ATS version guide below currently has around 1.4K views) The same issue affects 100% discovery guides and map combo content. I know there’s interest from my audience, but without YouTube helping push this type of content, it quickly gets buried.
