In 2025 I’ve decided to create a podcast-style episode about Euro Truck Simulator 2, focusing on its map expansions and my personal journey through the years and various versions of the game.

The Pathfinder Achievement Evolution

Since version 1.55, one of the most challenging ETS2 achievements – Pathfinder – has undergone a significant change. Previously, obtaining this achievement required discovering 100% of the map, which was an incredibly demanding task. Now, you only need to drive 40,000 kilometers, which is much more achievable if you’re an active hauler.

I earned this achievement back on March 7th, 2017, right after the Vive La France DLC release. This was during version 1.26, when the European map was considerably smaller than it is today. Later, in version 1.27, I created a short video demonstrating how I achieved it once again.

Starting of 1.61 we got Proximity Exploration feature and you can get your 100% with your truck or car (or later bus) much faster. 

My Content Journey

For years, I kept my profile of explored roads private. That changed in 2022 when I was running version 1.43. I released my first comprehensive guide showing 100% map completion with the Iberia DLC included. To this day, it remains the most popular video on my channel with over 120,000 views.

Since then, I’ve been regularly sharing these completion guides. Almost every time I post one, I receive comments claiming it’s somehow cheating or illegitimate. However, I’ve noticed that videos featuring 100% exploration content consistently generate high view counts, lots of questions, and extensive discussion in the comments.

Expanding the Content Format

I’ve experimented with different approaches to this content. I’ve tried live exploration streams, showing viewers my process in real-time. I’ve also expanded into the world of map modifications, creating guides on how to merge multiple maps and sharing explored sectors from popular mod maps like ProMods and RoExtended. Later I created easy script which allow to merge several profiles with several clicks. Recently I’ve also found out how to reach 100% when it was not possible in the game before (e.g. on some mods).

The Niche Nature of Exploration Content

Overall, this particular aspect of trucking simulation is quite niche. It’s not as mainstream or popular as regular map modification combination guides. However, I’ve noticed that nowadays, many YouTubers are creating their own custom map combinations and sharing them with the community.

This specialized content might serve a smaller audience, but it’s clearly one that’s passionate and engaged with this unique aspect of Euro Truck Simulator 2.

I stopped the podcast on ETS2 1.55 where wasn’t new content added but after that I’ve shared discovered reworks of Benelux, Scandinavia DLC rebuilds, DLC Nordic Horizons and soon probably will do the same with Iceland DLC.

Looking Forward – What’s Coming Next

The future looks incredibly exciting. SCS Software has announced some major upcoming projects: reworks of UK, Isle of Ireland and Soul of Anatolia DLC and in November 2026 we will see Iceland DLC.

I’m hoping to continue sharing this content with you all, focusing not just on the achievement aspects – which, as we discussed, aren’t as relevant anymore with the Pathfinder changes and Proximity Exploration feature – but on the pure joy of exploration and discovery in these beautifully crafted virtual European landscapes. Maybe also I expand the same style video for American Truck Simulator since there are a lot of interesting things happening.
