Hidden Roads Study – November, 4 2026
Since 1.62 is here we have to do a recap what’s going on with hidden (or secret) roads in ATS and ETS2.
European guide was not updated since June 2026 and it is still actual until Iceland DLC we expect on November 10. But I’ve updated American guide added South Dakota as well as fixed some missed roads. Also updated flag of Utah in the video.
Please note that Proximity Exploration feature released in 1.61 can help you to find most of the secret roads without any guides. You can turn on or off the feature but anyway it is the biggest change in the game on this topic since 2022, when hidden roads came as markable objects in version 1.44. For sure some roads are real secret and even with this feature you need to go around all roads to find the location of unmarked path. So for some time I will continue to update my guides.
The next big update will be I after Iceland in ETS2 and British Columbia in ATS.
If I find any new roads or you suggest one I will not update it instantly since I skip mid-tier guide videos because of low views on YouTube. The same issue affects 100% discovery guides and map combo content. I know there’s interest from my audience, but without YouTube helping push this type of content, it quickly gets buried.
You can always check the complete list of cities with hidden paths here: https://trucksim.top/y9t6. It probably won’t reveal the exact secret road locations, but it can help you figure out if you missed any areas.
ETS2 (updated 06.01.2026, actual on 1.62 with all map DLCs before Iceland, 114 roads so far)
ATS (updated 11.02.2026, actual on 1.62 with South Dakota DLC, 290 roads so far)
Collection of 10 found roads in South Dakota with locations footages.
Map Combo Study 11.02.2026
We finished with map combo in games version 1.61 and getting ready for the new release as well as new DLCs. But until that we still have time to enjoy the long distance journey on Europe and America.
ETS2 1.61
Giga map combo I’ve finished last week for ETS2 1.61 took more time that I expected , and it has taken more time than I expected but it became a solid update with 74 maps. I reduced count of maps in the final setup to release it faster and maybe will do some corrections on it but not sure.
ATS 1.61
Bigger American combo is also actual and can be satisfy you until we are waiting for 1.62. While in Europe we will see Iceland and Coaches DLC this November, in ATS there is no significant changes of the map with new version.
Don’t forget about Beginner’s Guide which help new comers to dive to combos world. It will save you time, prevent recurring issues, and help you create a stable and enjoyable setup from the start.

My Eurotruck Map Discovery Story
In 2025 I’ve decided to create a podcast-style episode about Euro Truck Simulator 2, focusing on its map expansions and my personal journey through the years and various versions of the game.
The Pathfinder Achievement Evolution
Since version 1.55, one of the most challenging ETS2 achievements – Pathfinder – has undergone a significant change. Previously, obtaining this achievement required discovering 100% of the map, which was an incredibly demanding task. Now, you only need to drive 40,000 kilometers, which is much more achievable if you’re an active hauler.
I earned this achievement back on March 7th, 2017, right after the Vive La France DLC release. This was during version 1.26, when the European map was considerably smaller than it is today. Later, in version 1.27, I created a short video demonstrating how I achieved it once again.
Starting of 1.61 we got Proximity Exploration feature and you can get your 100% with your truck or car (or later bus) much faster.
My Content Journey
For years, I kept my profile of explored roads private. That changed in 2022 when I was running version 1.43. I released my first comprehensive guide showing 100% map completion with the Iberia DLC included. To this day, it remains the most popular video on my channel with over 120,000 views.
Since then, I’ve been regularly sharing these completion guides. Almost every time I post one, I receive comments claiming it’s somehow cheating or illegitimate. However, I’ve noticed that videos featuring 100% exploration content consistently generate high view counts, lots of questions, and extensive discussion in the comments.
Expanding the Content Format
I’ve experimented with different approaches to this content. I’ve tried live exploration streams, showing viewers my process in real-time. I’ve also expanded into the world of map modifications, creating guides on how to merge multiple maps and sharing explored sectors from popular mod maps like ProMods and RoExtended. Later I created easy script which allow to merge several profiles with several clicks. Recently I’ve also found out how to reach 100% when it was not possible in the game before (e.g. on some mods).
The Niche Nature of Exploration Content
Overall, this particular aspect of trucking simulation is quite niche. It’s not as mainstream or popular as regular map modification combination guides. However, I’ve noticed that nowadays, many YouTubers are creating their own custom map combinations and sharing them with the community.
This specialized content might serve a smaller audience, but it’s clearly one that’s passionate and engaged with this unique aspect of Euro Truck Simulator 2.
A Journey Through Game Versions: Historical Footage
Some of the key versions I’ve shared on YouTube, and what made each one special in terms of map development, features, and the overall trucking experience.
ETS 1.27 – with Vive La France (March 2017)
ETS2 1.43 – with Iberia (January 2022)

ETS2 1.45 – Germany Rebuild part 1 (July 2022)
ETS2 1.46 – November 2022
ETS2 1.47 – Germany Rework part 2 (March 2023)
ETS2 1.48 – Germany Rework part 3 (July 2023)
ETS2 1.48 – New Feature – Discovery by Country (August 2023)
ETS2 1.48.5 (October 2023)
ETS2 1.48.5 with West Balkans DLC (November 2023)
ETS2 1.50 Switzerland and Germany rework (May 2024)
ETS2 1.51 Germany Rework part 5 (September 2024)
ETS2 1.53 Germany Rework part 6 (November 2024)
ETS2 1.53 with Greece DLC (December 2024)
ETS2 1.54 (April 2025)
I stopped the podcast on ETS2 1.55 where wasn’t new content added but after that I’ve shared discovered reworks of Benelux, Scandinavia DLC rebuilds, DLC Nordic Horizons and soon probably will do the same with Iceland DLC.
Looking Forward – What’s Coming Next
The future looks incredibly exciting. SCS Software has announced some major upcoming projects: reworks of UK, Isle of Ireland and Soul of Anatolia DLC and in November 2026 we will see Iceland DLC.
I’m hoping to continue sharing this content with you all, focusing not just on the achievement aspects – which, as we discussed, aren’t as relevant anymore with the Pathfinder changes and Proximity Exploration feature – but on the pure joy of exploration and discovery in these beautifully crafted virtual European landscapes. Maybe also I expand the same style video for American Truck Simulator since there are a lot of interesting things happening.
Footages in the above video taken from videos available on the channel until version ETS2 1.55 – but always check if the new updates available in 100% Discovery stories.
If you like this type of content please go to the above video (click on picture) and write about it in comments.

Evolution of ETS2 – DLC Trailers & Releases (2012-2026)
This timeline showcases almost every official DLC trailer (+ free map expansions and reworks) from the 2012 base game launch through the upcoming Iceland DLC.
Watch how SCS Software expanded the virtual European trucking world from the original 18 countries to the complete continent, featuring:
Base Game (2012) – The foundation with 18 countries
Going East (2013) – Eastern European expansion
Major DLCs: Scandinavia, Vive La France, Italia, Beyond the Baltic Sea, Road to the Black Sea, Iberia, West Balkans, Greece, Nordic Horizons
Future expansions: Iceland DLC
It does not include future Isle of Ireland, Soul of Anatolia and UK Rework.
Each trailer is presented chronologically with game version info and covered regions. Perfect for ETS2 veterans wanting to relive the journey or newcomers discovering the game’s incredible growth over 13 years!
All footages taken from @SCSSoftware, the music has been replaced since most of the trailers have copyrighted tunes. Resolution of initial trailers was 720p and later 1080p so I framed them.
Map Combo Study 10.19.2026
A quick status update on where the Map Combo Study stands.
ETS2 1.61: the mega combo is taking longer than planned
I’m building a big mega map combo for ETS2 1.61, and it has taken more time than I expected. A lot of new maps were released and many existing ones got updates, so the setup kept moving under my feet. Trucksim is a hobby project and my time is limited, so I’m deliberately not publishing interim versions. I’d rather put the effort into one major, properly tested setup than hand out a string of half-finished ones.
The goal is to finish the new ETS2 combo this weekend. I can’t promise it, but that’s the target.
ATS: the big combo is done
The good news is on the American side. The larger ATS map combo is finished, and it should stay current for the entire 1.61 cycle. It includes most of the free maps that are available and can be combined right now.
I had planned to add paid mods as well, but that needs its own additional setup, and again time is the limit. For now the ATS combo covers free maps only.
What else is on the list
Alongside the combos, there are a few things I want to finish:
- Events that still need to be wrapped up
- More varied videos built around my own routes (see the North Dakota Routes)
- 100% discovery guides
- Hidden roads guides
Don’t forget about Beginner’s Guide which help new comers to dive to combos world. It will save you time, prevent recurring issues, and help you create a stable and enjoyable setup from the start.

Hidden Roads Study – October, 13 2026
A quick recap what is going on with hidden (or secret) roads in ATS and ETS2. First of all – Proximity Exploration feature released in 1.61 can help you to find most of the secret roads without any guides.
Big guides need to be updated – for ETS2 I have to check what is wrong with roads number – double check how many roads we have and what I missed. For ATS with 1.61 we got new DLC South Dakota where 10 new roads found (video below) but additionally I also have to check again count of roads and correct it accordingly. It will take some time on my side. So below you can find current existent guides more or less actual on 1.61 but not fully accurate. Guides for Europe with 114 roads and 281 in America are available on my channel excluding South Dakota. But below you can see 10 new roads footages in this new expansion. And the next big update will be I guess closer to the end of the year with Iceland and British Columbia DLCs.
ETS2 (updated 06.01.2026, actual on 1.61 with all map DLCs, 114 roads so far)
ATS (updated 06.28.2026, actual on 1.61 but without South Dakota DLC, 281 roads so far)
Collection of 10 found roads in South Dakota with locations footages.
