ETS2 1.56 News
Alongside with ATS 1.56 Open beta release we have some news for European trucking sibling of SCS Software. I still do not believe that we will see Nordic Horizon DLC this fall despite the fact that we saw the trailer, the good signal that the release is around the corner. But this time the trailer was prepared for Gamescom presentation and probably the expansion will be released not in 1.56 cycle. But new game version can be released September-October 2025 and below are the updates we will see in it.
HS-Schoch DLC Update
With the arrival of the upcoming ETS2 1.56 HS-Schoch Tuning Pack is receiving a substantial refresh and expansion.

Accessory finishes:
- Chrome
- Paintable (can now be customised in any colour of your choice)
- Matte paintable (also fully colour-selectable)
Grilles and Light Bars:
- Roof bars will have new LED and non-LED versions
- Front light bars will now feature LED, non-LED, and even strobe versions
- Bottom grilles will also be updated, with slot-based options as well as an LED version
It will be brought also two brand-new paint jobs.
Since the release of the HS-Schoch Pack, several new trucks have been added to ETS2. With this update, SCS includes bars for all the vehicles that were not part of the game at the time of the DLC’s original launch.
Schmitz Cargobull DLC Update
The highlight of this update is the Schmitz S.CS High Capacity Transport (HCT). This configuration features two trailers connected with a dolly. Schmitz Cargobull now becomes the second brand in Euro Truck Simulator 2 to feature a 32 m HCT trailer setup.

Also arriving in this update is the Schmitz S.KO City chassis, equipped with a steering axle, which provides greater manoeuvrability in tighter spaces. While this feature is primarily aimed at navigating urban environments, in ETS2, you are free to take it anywhere you like. Whether threading through narrow streets or tackling longer journeys, this new option adds variety and flexibility to your trailer fleet.

CZ LOKO Locomotives
With the upcoming 1.56 update, it will be revealed new cargoes from the company CZ LOKO, a renowned manufacturer of locomotives, both to the Euro Truck Simulator 2 base game and also as part of the Special Transport DLC.

In the base game, it will added the locomotives MUV 75 and EffiShunter 300. While these aren’t the largest or heaviest machines you’ll encounter, don’t underestimate them – make sure your truck is well-prepared to handle the load. The MUV 75 tips the scales at over 14 tons, while the EffiShunter 300 weighs in at a hefty 36 tons.
The Special Transport already features oversized cargoes such as the Articulated Hauler, Large Reservoir Tank, Giant Silo, and many more. Now, the roster is expanding with a true heavyweight – the EffiShunter 1000, a massive locomotive built by CZ LOKO.
Truckers will haul this behemoth on a lowbed trailer. The total height (including the trailer) reaches an impressive 5.3 meters, with a length of 16 meters and a width of 3.1 meters. Navigating corners with the EffiShunter 1000 in tow will demand precision and nerves of steel.
Your truck will need a powerful engine for this job – the locomotive alone weighs 80 tons, plus another 10 tons for the trailer. That’s 90 tons of pure challenge rolling behind you.
It will be available to deliver the EffiShunter 1000 along three routes: Berlin to Szczecin, Kassel to Hamburg, and Bremen to Travemünde. Each journey will be escorted by two escort vehicles to help ensure a safe trip from departure to delivery.
ATS 1.56 Open Beta
Today SCS released 1.56 Open Beta branch for American Truck Simulator to try and test out. SCS teams are currently adapting to a new update cycle. Because future console releases will require to lock in content earlier, this adjustment helps better coordinate timing across every platform.

RAM & Dodge Car Pack
SCS Software has announced another downloadable content pack for American Truck Simulator: Road Trip, introducing the RAM & Dodge Car Pack to the popular trucking simulation game.
Road Trip represents a new addition to American Truck Simulator that introduces alternative gameplay beyond traditional trucking. This gameplay module allows players to operate various vehicles, expanding the game experience while maintaining focus on open-road exploration.

The RAM & Dodge Car Pack will feature American automotive design and performance vehicles. The development team notes that specific details for each vehicle, including engine configurations and trim options, are still being finalized and will be shared at a later date.
The pack aims to include several iconic vehicles from the RAM and Dodge lineup. Players can expect to drive the RAM 1500 pickup truck, the Dodge Charger, the Dodge Viper, and the Dodge Challenger. These vehicles represent significant entries in automotive history and will be available for highway cruising within the game world.

Upon release of the RAM & Dodge Car Pack, or any Road Trip vehicle pack, the Road Trip gameplay module will become available to players. Purchasing this DLC or any future Road Trip content will unlock access to the new gameplay experience, marking a notable expansion for American Truck Simulator.
SCS Software has acknowledged the cooperation and support from RAM and Dodge, which has enabled the faithful recreation of these iconic vehicles within the game environment. This partnership represents part of the developer’s ongoing efforts to expand the simulation experience.

Earlier, SCS Software announced the first DLC for the Road Trip module – the Ford Car Pack. This initial vehicle pack showcases iconic American automotive history, featuring the legendary 1967 Mustang, the versatile 2023 F-150 pickup truck, the modern 2023 Bronco, and the classic 1998-2012 Ford Crown Victoria. The Ford Car Pack represents the inaugural offering for the Road Trip gameplay experience, spanning decades of American automotive design from classic muscle cars to contemporary workhorses.

Nordic Horizons DLC Official Trailer
Along with the announcement for truck simulators release on consoles, SCS also revealed Official trailer for upcoming ETS2 expansion Nordic Horizons DLC. The trailer is in traditional dramatic style with no surprises. We still have no evidence that the expansion will be released in 2025 and so early trailer revealed is linked mostly to Gamescom where it was presented.
According to #SCS, development of this DLC took more than two years and 2 map development teams. And in terms of area it might be bigger that two latest DLC (Greece and West Balkans) together. For sure Nordic roads and lands not so saturated as Balkan small countries or Greece but we hope it will bring us amazing landscape mapping and long haul experience.
Currently new trailer is not available on Youtube but you can see it on social medias, e.g. Facebook
In video below I collected available footages and pics of #NordicHorizons WIP before the trailer.

ETS2 and ATS on Consoles
SCS Software made an announcement during yesterday’s Future Games Show, the digital showcase that runs ahead of Gamescom and highlights upcoming gaming projects. The developer premiered an exclusive teaser confirming the console versions of their popular trucking simulators.
The announcement officially confirmed that both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator will be making their way to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This represents a significant expansion for the franchise, which has primarily been available on PC platforms.

Console players will gain access to the realistic trucking physics and open-world gameplay that has made these simulators popular among PC users. The move to next-generation hardware should allow for enhanced performance and visual fidelity compared to previous console attempts in the trucking simulation genre.
